Queens Park Rangers are seeking to loan out both Conor Masterson and Faysal Bettache this month, with West London Sport reporting that the club wants both players to be getting regular game time in order to continue their development.
Both players have largely been on the fringes of Mark Warburton’s squad and would certainly benefit from being loaned out in order to get more minutes under their belts this term.
Masterson has only been afforded six first team appearances this term whilst Bettache has only recently moved into the first team picture after coming through the club’s academy in West London.
It now appears that the impending arrival of fellow centre back Jordy de Wijs from Hull City could see Masterson being shipped out, whilst Warburton recently discussed the benefits of both players heading out of the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium on temporary deals:
“Development is so important.
“It’s OK sitting on the bench but they need to go out and play matches for three points. Conor, Faysal, they need men’s football.
The ultimate 2021 QPR quiz – Can you get 24/24 correct?
“In League One or League Two you are playing for three points and players are paying their mortgage.
“It’s invaluable for a young player’s development.”
Both players are under contract until 2023.
This will certainly prove to be a wise decision from a QPR perspective as it will allow two of their most talented young players to gain some more solid experience of football at first team level.
Masterson’s minutes look to be limited due to the expected arrival of de Wijs whilst Bettache is still very much making his way in the game after progressing through the youth system.
Clubs in the lower leagues of the EFL will surely be eyeing moves for the talented duo this month and they could well prove to be solid additions.
Both players should see these prospective loan moves as key steps in their development as the club has shown faith in them by tying them to long-term contracts.
