QPR could be set to move away from Loftus Road and into a new 45,000 capacity stadium according to the Daily Mail.

The report details that there are four options for the potential new stadium for Steve McClaren's side.

One of the options is that QPR could modernise the Linford Christie Athletics Stadium, which would cost an astonishing £425m.

It is also thought that there are plans to build a new athletics track as well as building a number of other sporting facilities around the ground would be included in the redevelopment plan.

It is understood that that this option is one of the more favourable options by the council, who would see a considerable amount of money earned from the facilities at the stadium.

There are also alternative options available, which would involve in the capacity of the stadium being reduced from 45,000 to a smaller amount, but at a cheaper cost.

There is going to be a 12-week public consultation over the plans by the council, and it remains to be seen as to how this will development will pan out.

QPR's Chief Executive Officer, Lee Hoos admitted that is keen to see QPR supporters get involved with the consultation.

"The Council is shortly to launch a public consultation on the future of the Linford Christie site, which we will encourage our fanbase, local residents and stakeholders to take part in."

QPR have been at Loftus Road since 1917, and it certainly has held some good memories for QPR supporters in recent years.

The Verdict:

I'm not sure this would be a wise move at all by QPR.

It's well documented that they aren't in the best of financial positions at this moment in time, and are they a big enough club to be looking at moving into a bigger stadium?

I'm not so sure about this.
