Queens Park Rangers are hoping to complete a deal to sign Southend United striker Charlie Kelman, according to West London Sport.

The 18-year-old forward, who is a product of the Shrimpers' academy, has attracted attention from both Tottenham and Swansea this summer, but Rangers look to have won the race for his signature.

Kelman made his Southend debut in an EFL Trophy tie back in November 2018, but his breakthrough came last season when he scored seven times in 19 appearances, although he couldn't prevent the Roots Hall outfit from suffering relegation.

Did these 12 ex-QPR players actually ever score for the club?

Mark Warburton has already signed an abundance of attacking talent this summer, including the likes of Lyndon Dykes, Macauley Bonne, Albert Adomah, and wants to add the highly-rated younger to his ranks at Loftus Road.

Despite his imminent departure, Kelman has featured five times in all competitions for Southend this season, although he left out of the squad that drew with Crawley on Saturday.

The Verdict

If Kelman was going to be good enough for Jose Mourinho and Spurs, then he's certainly good enough for QPR.

Rangers have plenty of strikers in their squad, but failing to secure the services of last season's topscorer, Jordan Hugill, would have been a major blow, so they'll be looking for someone to score the goals in his absence.

And whilst Kelman has doesn't offer up any previous Championship experience, he'll be desperate to prove himself at a higher level.
