QPR are looking to sign Stoke City's Geoff Cameron before Friday's loan deadline.

The R's are desperate for a midfielder and centre-back as Steve McClaren looks to bolster his squad and West London Sport are reporting that the American international is their top target.

They state that his versatility, with Cameron capable in both those positions, have made him the top target for the London side before the deadline, which is at 5pm on Friday.

As well as that, the R's are still impacted by FFP and face an embargo in January, so bringing in a player who can cover various positions appeals to McClaren.

The 33-year-old has fallen out of favour since Gary Rowett took over, with the former Derby boss having a very big squad to choose from.

Therefore, Cameron is yet to feature and hasn't even made a matchday squad this season.

Should the move go through it would end a six-year stay for the former Houston Dynamo player in Staffordshire, with Cameron playing over 180 games for the Potters.

The Verdict

Cameron would be a perfect fit for QPR and would go straight into the team, bringing experience and know-how in vital areas of the pitch.

Additionally, his versatility is a major plus, particularly in such a small squad, with the Stoke man capable of playing in virtually every defensive position, as well as midfield.

With the player not in Rowett's plans, it seems like it's a move that would suit all parties.
