QPR are hoping to re-sign midfielder Geoff Cameron after he was told that he is not apart of Nathan Jones' plans, according to West London Sport.

Cameron also previously told West London Sport that he wanted to return to Loftus Road after his ended last season.

QPR are looking to bolster their midfield options, and while people thought he may return on loan to the Hoops, the report suggests that Mark Warbuton's side want him on a permanent deal.

The American international - who turns 34 this Thursday - is hoping to terminate his contract with Stoke and then sign for QPR as a free agent.

Cameron has one-year remaining on his deal, but is no longer needed by Stoke and won't be for the remainder of his contract.

He is one of eight players at the Potters who have been told that they have no future at the club. The others are Bojan, Moritz Bauer, Mame Biram Diouf, Giannelli Imbula, Julien Ngoy, Erik Pieters and Kevin Wimmer, according to the report.

He played 19 times for QPR in the season gone by, playing in a variety of positions, from centre half to central midfield. He was generally a first teamer, however, an ankle injury kept him out for much of the year.

The Verdict Cameron would be a wise signing for QPR if the finances are right on the deal they're offering. It's no secret that QPR are cash strapped, so having a player who can play in both defence and midfield is really valuable to them. Also, his international experience will go a long way with this fairly inexperienced QPR squad, and he is a safe pair of hands both on and off the pitch. They have brought a lot of youngsters in and need to balance it with players who know what they’re doing.
