A 3-0 win for Brentford before the international break meant they leapfrogged their West London rivals QPR in the table, but how will the fans in blue and white be feeling about this?

The November international break is upon us and the Championship table is starting to take shape - teams are starting to pull away and others drop off but the biggest battles are in the middle, and both West London clubs are already caught up in one.

Up until last weekend, it was QPR leading the charge in the west of the capital. Under Mark Warburton, they got off to a strong start to the season and were loitering in and around the top-six for much of it. Brentford meanwhile started the season with a dismal run, taking eight points from their opening eight games.

Warburton’s QPR revolution took West London by storm as they played some of the finest football in the land. But results have since dropped and a 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough saw them into the break winless in four.

Eight from the opening eight; from the last eight games has seen Brentford take 16 points. Their last outing before the break, a fine 3-0 win at Wigan Athletic, takes them to their highest league position of the season - the Bees go 9th with QPR in 10th.

This won’t dishearten QPR fans too much. Brentford were the league’s highest spenders in the summer whilst QPR spent a next to nothing on a whole new squad.

Warburton is overseeing a transition phase at QPR and nobody expected them to gel as quickly as they have. But the fact they they have done only bodes well for the future, and fans have every right to look forward to a bright tenure under the former Bees boss.

It’s probably not the right time for QPR to make the step-up to the Premier League, and after seeing Fulham’s fall from grace last season, QPR fans will be happy to spend a couple of seasons at this level to ensure that the club is ready to take on the top-flight.

Brentford beat QPR earlier in the season, at The Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium as well. That night was a bitter blow for fans of QPR and seeing their rivals leapfrog them going into the break is salt in the wounds.

With thirty fixtures of the season left to fulfil though, fans of neither will be holding their breath for too long.
