Queens Park Rangers and Standard Liege are both monitoring Bochum's Thomas Eisfeld who has entered the final year of his contract.

The midfielder is a name that some English fans may know, as he had a spell with Arsenal as a youngster and a year with Fulham before moving back to Germany to join his current club in 2015.

However, a transfer could be on the cards, with Fussballtransfers claiming that the two sides are keeping tabs on the 27-year-old and they know his contract situation makes a deal likely.

Firstly, both clubs are allowed to reach an agreement with Eisfeld in January about him joining on a free for next season, whilst that may force Bochum to cash in for a low fee if he doesn't extend his stay with them.

A creative attacking midfield player, Eisfeld has been in and out of the Bochum team over the years and he only made his first league start of the season on Sunday, as the team won 2-0.

The update adds that the Bundesliga II are unsure whether they will try and tie Eisfeld down to a new deal, whilst there is no clear favourite between the R's and the Belgian side.

The verdict

QPR aren't the biggest spenders in the Championship and have to be smart with their recruitment and this is the sort of deal that will appeal to them.

Eisfeld is a good age, will be available for a relatively cheap fee in the New Year and is someone with decent pedigree.

A lack of creativity in the final third is a major issue for Mark Warburton right now, so this would be a good capture if they can get it done.
