Stoke City's Geoff Cameron is a target for Queens Park Rangers, according to West London Sport.

The 33-year old American international is seen by Steve McClaren as the man to add experience and knowledge to his midfield after a tough start to the season that has seen them pick up just three points from five games.

Cameron has 168 Premier League appearances behind him for Stoke, the last of which came in April against West Ham. He hasn't played at all since that fixture, slipping out of Gary Rowett's favour and seemingly on his way out of the club.

He could now be offered a lifeline by McClaren who is desperate to add strength to his side before the transfer window closes tomorrow.

Cameron can operate in defence too and Rangers are keen to add as much diversity and depth to their side as they can, in preparation for a transfer embargo which is expected in January.

Cameron has 55 caps for his country, with four goals coming during his spell in a USA shirt.

The Verdict

Cameron would tick two boxes at once for McClaren, he's experienced and could bring much needed knowledge to the squad, but he's also versatile and could fill a number of positions too.

Convincing him to switch to a struggling side might be a different matter, especially as he's played nothing but top flight football since coming to England. It might be his only chance of regular match time though.
