Queens Park Rangers are interested in signing Benfica playmaker Adel Taarabt on loan, according to reports from Portuguese news outlet A Bola via Sport Witness.

Speculation has been rife throughout the week, after reports claimed that the Moroccan midfielder could be line for a return to England - nearly four years after departing Loftus Road.

But news has now surfaced, that the R's are interesting in re-signing Taarabt, this time on a loan deal, with the midfielder frozen out over in Portugal.

The 29-year old made over 150 appearances for the Hoops over three different spells at the club, and was at his best when he scored 19 goals and assisted 21 times in 44 games for the R's in their promotion winning season in 2011-12.

Steve McClaren's men need a boost going forward to help ignite a potential promotion push - the West London club sit 14th in the Sky Bet Championship table, eight points off the playoffs.

The Verdict

To sign Taarabt on a loan deal would be exceptional business by QPR.

He's a livewire, but if you get him concentrating on his football, then he will be a fantastic signing at Championship level.

He's likely to have many suitors so they need to act fast.
