QPR midfielder Ody Alfa has joined non-league side Chelmsford City on loan, the Championship club have confirmed.

Alfa has come through the youth ranks at QPR, and his senior debut for the R's in a League Cup win over Oxford United in August 2021.

The midfielder has also had spells out on loan elsewhere, including in the National League with Aldershot Town earlier this season, where he scored once in 14 games.

Now, the midfielder is once again on the move, as he bids to get more first-team experience under his belt.

It has been announced that the 23-year-old has now completed a loan move to Chelmsford, for the rest of this season.

Alfa joins Chelmsford with the club sixth in the National League South table, ahead of their clash with Bath City on Saturday afternoon.

As things stand, Alfa's contract with QPR, is due to expire at the end of this season.

The Verdict

This does look like it ought to be a good move for Alfa to make.

At 23-years-old, the midfielder is at the stage of his career where he needs to be playing regular football in order to establish himself in the game, something he has not been doing at QPR.

With that in mind, this deal does seem to make sense, since it ought to give him plenty of opportunities to get that sort of experience under his belt.

Indeed, given his contract situation at QPR, that could be important for Alfa in terms of catching the attention of others, and doing enough to secure a deal either with QPR or elsewhere, for next season and beyond.
