QPR boss Ian Holloway has said that both Jamie Mackie and James Perch will be leaving the club in the summer as opposed to having a new contract offered them.

The R's have got a number of players out of contract this summer as they look to shake things up squad wise and, you'd have thought, put together a side capable of a play-off challenge.

Of course, Mackie is someone who knows what promotion is like to achieve at Loftus Road after they won the second tier title in 2010/11 but he won't get the chance to repeat the feat any time soon with him off in the off-season.

Perch will also be joining him out the door whilst Jay Emmanuel-Thomas is set to leave too. Finally, Nedum Onuoha and Jack Robinson remain in discussions with their deals also up at the end of the campaign.

Holloway told the club website:

“We've had some tough decisions to make, but it was important we did things in the right way.

“We are going through a transitional period at QPR. I have given young lads the chance and they have grabbed it with both hands.

“Perchy and Jamie are outstanding professionals and they've reacted to my decision in the way I'd expect them to – they've been nothing but respectful of the decision."

The Verdict

It's potentially an exciting time at the R's with the number of bright young players coming through.

Clearly, they have to balance the books somewhere and it looks as though a number of players will be moved on this summer.

Holloway has to get it right, though, as experience is always vital, especially in the Championship.
