Albert Adomah is expected to sign a new contract with Queens Park Rangers, although expected incoming new boss Michael Beale will have the final say.

The 34-year-old featured regularly for Mark Warburton's side in the Championship this season, scoring twice and registering three assists in 33 games for the R's.

However, with his deal expiring in the summer, there had been doubts about his future but talks had been underway with the hierarchy over a new contract.

And, it appears there has been a breakthrough, with West London Sport revealing that Adomah is 'likely' to extend his stay.

But, they do add that whilst a broad agreement looks to have been reached, the final decision is going to rest on the manager, who is expected to be Beale.

The Aston Villa assistant is in advanced talks to succeed Warburton and an appointment is thought to be imminent.

Adomah is a versatile player, having played wing-back for much of the season but he is also capable of playing higher up the pitch as he has shown earlier in his career.

The verdict

You can understand why QPR want to keep Adomah because it's clear that he loves the club and he is an experienced figure that will no doubt help in the dressing room.

Despite that, it's totally right that Beale makes the final call because he should only be working with players that he wants at the club.

So, it will be interesting to see what happens but it's clear that there's going to be a lot going on at QPR in the summer ahead of next season.
