QPR close to agreeing deal for consistent 23-year-old Championship defender

According to GetWestLondon QPR are on the verge of signing Brentford captain Jake Bidwell with the 23-year-old entering the final year of his contract at Griffin Park.

QPR made an approach earlier in the summer for the Brentford skipper however were turned away, but the clubs now appear close to agreeing to a deal.

The 23-year-old defender is very experienced at Championship level making over 200 appearances for Brentford after his move their from Everton.

He has had a successful time at Brentford overseeing the club getting promoted from League One and being named in the Team of the Year in the process.

Under Mark Warburton he helped the side reach the Championship playoffs before losing to Middlesbrough in the semi-finals. Ever since then there has been an exodus of Brentford players including star players like Andre Gray, Stuart Dallas and James Tarkowski.

They ended last season well under Dean Smith with Bidwell’s form key but he looks to be joining the long list of recently departed Brentford stars as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink tries to transform his QPR side into a promotion challenging outfit.
