Following the release of the Football League 2015-16 fixtures on Wednesday, Queens Park Rangers manager Chris Ramsey has expressed his excitement ahead of his side's opening day trip to Charlton Athletic.

QPR begin the season away to Charlton Athletic

That is followed by welcoming Cardiff City to Loftus Road the following week before another tough away trip, this time to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Ramsey's side take on West London rivals Fulham at the end of September, and Brentford on October 31. The Hoops will end the season with a home fixture against Bristol City on May 7.

The match at the Valley will be Ramsey's first game as a manager in the Championship, and is excited to begin the campaign with a match against a local rival.

“It’s a great opening day fixture for us,” he told the club's official website.

“A short trip to one of our local rivals makes it really accessible for the supporters, which is vitally important.

“The R’s fans are massive for us – we’re going to need them every step of the way this season – and I’m sure they’ll turn up in huge numbers at The Valley.”

Our local derbies against Fulham and Brentford also caught the eye of the R’s gaffer, with the Hoops competing in the same league as their west London rivals for the first time since 1949.

“These are the games the supporters look forward to and as management and players, we’re no different,” said Ramsey.

“We know the rivalries that exist and for that reason alone, they’re four games to really embrace.

“The fact that all three of us are in the same division for the first time in so many years will only add to the drama I’m sure.”
