Both QPR and Preston want to sign out-of-contract Barnsley midfielder Josh Scowen, according to the Sun (Print edition, page 63, 18th June 2017).

However, they face a fight on their hands to land the versatile Scowen, with both Nottingham Forest and Bristol City reportedly interested in signing him.

Scowen is due to see his contract expire over the coming weeks and will look to seal a move to a Championship club as soon as possible, with the hope of finding a club before pre-season training begins in July.

24-year-old Scowen signed for the Reds in a deal from Wycombe Wanderers back in 2015, and has gone on to make a name for himself as a dependable and reliable performer at Oakwell, amassing over 100 appearances in his time with the club.

He played a major part as Barnsley won promotion back to the Championship just over a year ago, but an agreement has failed to materialise between player and club, and a move now looks ever likely.

QPR, Preston, and Forest will all be hoping to sway Scowen towards them over the coming weeks, with all three clubs looking to seal a place in the top six of the Championship next term.
