If you had offered Queens Park Rangers a place in midtable with nearly a quarter of the season played, they will have most likely bitten your hand off.
Well, as things stand, things are going even better for them than that.
The West Londoners currently sit in ninth place with 11 matches played as we head into the international break, with just one point separating them from the play-off places and just three from the top of the table.
After losing the likes of Luke Freeman and Darnell Furlong in the summer, many will have worried that such a large change in personnel could have led to a slow start, but that has not been the case.
One player who has been playing out of skin for the Rs in the opening two months is versatile winger Ryan Manning.
Having spent the first-half of last season out on loan with Rotherham United, impressing his parent club in the process, it was always likely that he would be involved in the current campaign.
But even he would not have seen it going quite as well, racking up two assists, and propelling himself to fan-favourite status with some incredibly hard-working displays.
However, a nasty sting in the tail could be in store for the Londoners, with Premier League Southampton apparently plotting a January swoop for the 23-year-old’s services, according to Football Insider.
With his contract set to expire in the summer, the Saints will be confident of landong him on a discount deal.
But what will the player be feeling?
Manning has really shown his worth so far this season and will no doubt feel confident that he could make the step-up to the Premier League.
Southampton are a side who have always appreciated the hard-working aspect of a players game, and you get the feeling he would be a very welcome addition on the south-coast.
Whilst he will of course have a strong alligence with QPR, for a player like Manning, he will not know when his next chance to move to the Premier League will come.
I think he could find this offer too good refuse if it comes to fruition.
