Wigan Athletic are looking to move within three points of safety this evening as they face Norwich City in a crunch clash at the DW Stadium.

Victory for Warren Joyce’s side would see them close the gap on Burton Albion and Bristol City to just three points, a situation that would have seemed rather far-fetched earlier in the campaign.

A deflected Ross Wallace shot handed the Latics a cruel defeat in their last outing, a 1-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

Omar Bogle, who made his debut as a substitute against the Owls, could make his first start for Wigan since his deadline-day move from Grimsby Town.

Bogle netted 19-goals during the first-half of the campaign for Grimsby.

Yanic Wildschut, who made a deadline-day switch to Norwich from Wigan, is expected to feature again for the Canaries following his debut against Cardiff City at the weekend and could well come back to haunt the Latics.

Alex Neil’s side, meanwhile, are in fine form, winning three games in a row. They defeated Cardiff in their last outing to put themselves within three points of the top six, another thing that maybe would have sounded rather silly a few weeks ago.

The Canaries know a victory tonight would see them move back into the play-off places.
