Sheffield Wednesday defender Tom Lees is set to return to action this afternoon as the Owls’ development side take on Huddersfield Town in West Yorkshire.

The 27-year-old has been out of action since November after undergoing surgery on an injury picked up in the 2-2 draw at Ipswich, with his absence one of many to strike the squad at Hillsborough this season.

The former Leeds United academy graduate has become a regular at the club following his 2014 switch, and his return to action will be a timely boost for new boss Jos Luhukay, who has struggled since his appointment last month.

The South Yorkshire side have slipped into 17th position during Lees’ absence, and now lie just six points above the drop zone with just fifteen games left.

News of Lees’ return was shared by Sheffield Star journalist Dom Howson on Twitter, with fans delighted to see their key man nearing a first-team return, but concerned that an aggravation of his injury could be on the cards....
