Birmingham City gained a priceless victory on the road yesterday as they took all three points away from Bristol City's Ashton Gate.

A header from captain Harlee Dean with just 10 minutes to play secured a first win in seven games for Aitor Karanka's men, and a big tactical switch ended up paying off.

The Spaniard moved away from the five defender system that he's used recently and went back to a 4-2-3-1 formation, bringing the creativity of Ivan Sanchez and Jeremie Bela to the table.

But it was another midfielder who grabbed the attention of Birmingham fans and that is new recruit Alen Halilovic.

Previously on the books of Barcelona and A.C. Milan, 24-year-old Halilovic was snapped up a few weeks ago as a free agent, having terminated his contract with Milan in October.

And he joined fellow Croat Ivan Sunjic on the pitch for the first time yesterday as Birmingham were seeking the victory.

Coming on as a substitute after 72 minutes, Halilovic's cameo was very impressive and according to Blues reporter Brian Dick he looked like he could be the 'missing piece in the Birmingham jigsaw'.

The fans were similarly taken aback by Halilovic's impact and took to Twitter to laud him for his short but impressive performance - check out the best ones below!
