Former Charlton Athletic player and manager Chris Powell has sent a message to fans on Twitter about the "fairytale ending" to his career at the south London club, which has left many Addicks supporters buzzing.

The 50-year-old made more than 200 appearances for the Addicks across three different spells with the club and represented them in both the Premier League and the Championship.

His final appearance came on the final day of the 2007/08 season in a 4-1 victory against Coventry City.

Are these 15 Chris Powell facts true or false? Have a go now!

Despite spending the majority of his career at left-back, Powell was brought on in midfield late on and grabbed a goal in front of the Covered End at the Valley.

The Englishman surged into the box to latch onto a long throw and put his effort past Kasper Schmeichel – scoring just his third goal for the Addicks.

To commemorate the 12th anniversary of that game, Charlton posted a clip of Powell discussing the goal earlier this week and yesterday the ex-Addicks defender took to Twitter to send a message to fans concerning that moment.

Unsurprisingly, Powell's message has been well-received by fans of the south London club, many of whom took to Twitter to show their appreciation for the club legend.
