Noel Whelan has claimed that Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has a massive decision to make when it comes to deciding who to start on the left wing against Derby County tomorrow.

The Whites returned to the top of the Championship table with a 2-0 win over Barnsley on Sunday and will be looking to continue their momentum with another three points against the Rams at Elland Road on Saturday lunchtime.

Leeds have won five out of their opening seven league matches this season and Bielsa has been reluctant to make changes to his starting line-up so far.

Jack Harrison has started every Championship game for Leeds on the left this season, although he struggled to make an impact against Barnsley and was replaced by Helder Costa at half-time.

Former Leeds striker Whelan has claimed that Bielsa now has a massive decision to make when it comes to who to start on the left against Derby at Elland Road tomorrow, claiming that Costa has given him a selection headache.

Is this the WORST Leeds United XI from the last 15 years? We'll let YOU decide....

“I’m not so sure. I’m in two minds here because of the impact Eddie had when he came on and also Helder Costa in the second half,” Whelan told Football Insider, when asked if Bielsa will make changes to his starting line-up.

“Not too many times will Marcelo Bielsa make those changes at half-time but he did, taking Harrison off and putting Costa on, you could see the immediate impact he had after five, seven minutes of being on the field. Again, causing problems down the left with pace and trickery.

“That will be one position that will be troubling him, does he go with Costa, does he go with Harrison? He’s got massive decisions to make.”

The Verdict

I agree with Whelan here. Bielsa has been reluctant to make changes to his starting line-up in the past, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him start Costa ahead of Harrison this weekend.

He's a fantastic player and he could turn out to be an excellent signing for Leeds - I think it's only a matter of time before he's given a chance to start games in the Championship and this weekend could be a good opportunity for Bielsa to make that change.

Harrison has impressed so far this season but he missed a big chance in the first half against Barnsley last weekend and Leeds looked far more threatening after Costa came off the bench at half-time at Oakwell.

Leeds will be looking to continue their momentum with another win tomorrow, so it'll be interesting to see who Bielsa goes with on the left.
