Danny Mills has stated that Leeds have a weak spot when defending set-pieces after a number of problems in the early parts of the season.

The Whites sit top of the Championship having won five out of their opening seven fixtures, including maintaining a 100% record away from home.

Leeds have conceded just three goals this season, but have looked susceptible from set-pieces, which was their undoing in the home clash with Nottingham Forest.

They don't have the tallest team, and there could be a potential issue when it comes to defending set-pieces.

Mills has insisted that Leeds need to sort out this specific problem to ensure that it isn't a part of their game that is showing weakness and an opportunity to the opposition.

Speaking to Football Insider, Mills said: “Leeds aren’t the biggest team, other than the two centre backs in Cooper and White. Bamford’s tall but he’s not the greatest of defensive headers.

“They’ve got to stop conceding corners, which clearly is not going to happen all the time, or just find a different way to defend set-pieces because there’s been quite a few problems caused by that and they just need to make sure that isn’t their undoing.”

The Verdict

Leeds really haven't got the tallest of sides, and love to play the ball on the deck, which suits both their own style, and the players that they have available to them.

Marcelo Bielsa is a top manager and he'll probably know that they've looked shaky when defending corners.

Maybe that's the reason that the Argentine will continue to pick striker, Bamford, over Nketiah. In terms of height the forward is far superior to the Arsenal loanee and he can become helpful at both ends of the pitch.

Whoever is picked against Derby on Saturday must be aware of their aerial ability. In Krystian Bielik, Matt Clarke and Richard Keogh, the Rams have the height capable to cause the Leeds backline problems, so they must be wary.
