David Prutton believes that Sunderland will continue their unbeaten start to the Sky Bet Championship season this evening, when they face Sheffield Wednesday, reports Sky Sports.

Writing in his prediction column for Sky, Prutton has predicted a high scoring affair at Hillsborough, with Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland playing out a 2-2 draw.

The two clubs have started the season in contrasting form, with Sheffield Wednesday struggling, whilst Sunderland have surprised many following their relegation from the Premier League.

Carlos Carvalhal’s side have failed to win a game so far this season and have picked up just one-point form their opening two fixtures.

The Owls suffered a 1-0 defeat to Preston North End on the opening day of the season, before Queens Park Rangers then held Carvalhal’s side to a 1-1 draw at Hillsborough last weekend.

Glenn Loovens picked up an injury in that game against QPR, and is an injury doubt for tonight’s clash with Sunderland, which will give Simon Grayson’s side a huge boost heading in to the fixture.

The Black Cats have four-points from their opening two fixtures and are going in search of back-to-back victories at Hillsborough this evening.

Grayson’s side started the season with a 1-1 draw against Derby County, before turning in an impressive performance against Norwich City on Sunday, picking up three-points thanks to a 3-1 victory.

The Verdict

Carlos Carvalhal will be desperate for three-points this evening, with the pressure already building at Hillsborough following a slow start to the season.

The Owls have been disappointing so far, and they face a difficult challenge against Sunderland this evening, particularly with their defensive crisis.

Whilst Wednesday have struggled, Sunderland have impressed, which has surprised many who predicted them to struggle following their relegation from the Premier League.

A victory over Sheffield Wednesday tonight and we might have to start considering Sunderland as serious promotion candidates.
