Sheffield Wednesday travel to Derby County tomorrow lunch time in what is set to be an exciting clash between two teams with the ambitions of winning promotion back to the Championship

The Owls currently sit third in the League One standings and sit a mere point from Ipswich Town in second place.

As for the Rams, they are just a point outside of the play-off positions and go into this clash unbeaten in their last five matches.

Sharing his thoughts ahead of tomorrow's clash at Pride Park, Carlton Palmer told Football League World: "It's a big game for Sheffield Wednesday because I think I'm right in saying that they have just one win against teams in the top eight.

"But they're the form team. They've won the last three on the bounce.

"Derby haven't been beaten but they've drawn three of their last five games. So you know the way Paul Warne is. He likes to keep the games tight. He likes to keep clean sheets. So I expect it to be a tight affair tomorrow.

"I don't expect Sheffield Wednesday to get beat. It's away from home and that's what you have to do when you're playing top-six opponents, you don't get beat against them. I think there's plenty more to come from this Sheffield Wednesday side and I expect them to kick further on.

"So I think the smart money would go on the draw."

The verdict

Arguments can be made for both to win this one, in a game that has the potential to be a very exciting one in the middle stages of this campaign.

The Owls will bring a lot of confidence into this one when considering their recent run of form, but as Palmer alludes to, they have not been dominant against the teams around them thus far.

As for Derby, they have lost both of their games against the top two thus far and they will be eager to address this when the Yorkshire club visit tomorrow.

A draw does seem like the safest bet out there, whilst a narrow victory either way is also a good shout in a game that looks as competitive as this one.
