David Prutton is expecting Wolverhampton Wanderers to seal their route back to the Premier League this weekend when they face Birmingham City at Molineux.

Writing in his prediction column for Sky Sports, Prutton is predicting Wolves to record a 3-1 victory over Birmingham on Sunday, which will be enough to secure the club’s promotion in the Sky Bet Championship.

Victories over Cardiff City and Derby County over the course of the last week have put Wolves on the brink, and depending on Cardiff and Fulham’s results earlier in the weekend, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side could be a Premier League outfit before they even play on Sunday.

Either way, Prutton is expecting Wolves to gain promotion before long, with the EFL pundit expecting a big victory over Birmingham this weekend, which could potentially haul the Blues back into relegation trouble.

Birmingham currently sit 20thin the Championship table, with Garry Monk’s side three points above the relegation zone ahead of the run-in.

Despite some improved results, the Blues are not yet clear of trouble, with Barnsley looking to haul them and Bolton Wanderers into a three-way battle to join Burton Albion and Sunderland in the relegation zone.

The Verdict

Wolves have rediscovered their best just at the right time, with Nuno’s side almost there.

Promotion will be achieved over the course of the next four fixtures, and it would be sweet for Wolves’ supporters to do it against Birmingham at Molineux.

The way that Nuno’s side are playing, it is hard to see Birmingham and Monk stopping them.
