David Prutton is expecting Sunderland’s long wait for a home victory in 2017 to end this weekend when Chris Coleman’s side entertain Fulham at the Stadium of Light, reports Sky Sports.

Writing in his prediction column for Sky, Prutton has predicted Sunderland to pick up a 1-0 victory over Fulham, sending their supporters away from the Stadium of Light with a winning feeling for the first time this year.

Sunderland’s miserable home record stretches back to their Premier League days, with the unwanted record ultimately proving to be at the centre of the club’s downfall, which has left them fighting relegation in the Sky Bet Championship this season.

Coleman’s side currently sit 23rd, having won just twice all season, with this weekend’s visitors finding some of the form that saw them impress in the Championship last season.

Slavisa Jokanovic’s side have picked up three victories in their last four fixtures, which has helped the Cottagers move to 12th in the table and within eight points of the top-six.

Last time out a single goal was all it took for Fulham to pick up three points against Birmingham City.

The Verdict

This is some claim from Prutton, particularly when you take into account Sunderland’s atrocious form at the Stadium of Light over the course of 2017.

Fulham are beginning to rediscover some of the form that saw them storm into the top-six last season, and Jokanovic’s side will be going to the Stadium of Light looking for three points.

Some claim from Prutton, but it is hard to see Sunderland pick up a victory against an in-form Fulham.
