David Prutton is expecting Sheffield United to pile the pressure on the Sky Bet Championship’s top-six this evening when they face Burton Albion at Bramall Lane.
Writing in his prediction column for Sky Sports, Prutton has predicted Chris Wilder’s side to pick up a 2-1 victory over the Championship’s strugglers, therefore piling the pressure on the division’s other play-off hopefuls.
Bad weather across the UK in recent weeks meant that Sheffield United couldn’t host Burton, with tonight’s fixture a rearrangement.
The Blades enter tonight’s contest on the back of two games without a victory, which has left them in ninth and five points adrift of Middlesbrough, who have moved into a commanding position to clinch the final play-off spot.
With Boro not in action this midweek, Wilder’s side have the opportunity to pile the pressure on the Teessiders against one of the Championship’s favourites for relegation.
Whilst the Blades go in search of the top-six, Burton currently sit in the Championship’s bottom three, with Nigel Clough’s side looking to pull themselves to safety during the run-in.
Burton are two points adrift of safety, but a victory tonight would put them in a good position to achieve safety.
Sheffield United have suffered indifferent results in recent weeks, with the Blades failing to make the most of their chance to strengthen a grip on sixth.
However, tonight’s contest with Burton gives the Blades an opportunity to put the pressure back on Middlesbrough, which Wilder will be well aware of.
Both sides have plenty to play for, however, a home victory would be the obvious prediction.
