David Prutton is expecting Wolverhampton Wanderers to maintain their lead at the top of the Sky Bet Championship table this weekend, when they welcome Sheffield United to Molineux, reports Sky Sports.

Writing in his prediction column for Sky, Prutton is predicting Wolves to edge a 2-1 victory over the Blades, as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side continue to go from strength-to-strength in the race for the Premier League.

Wolves have struggled for form recently in the Championship, but last week returned to winning ways, picking up a 1-0 victory against Ipswich Town, helping to move Nuno’s side 11 points clear at the summit of the division, with Wolves now seemingly having one foot in the top-flight.

Benik Afobe could feature at Molineux this weekend, with Wolves’ strikeforce now looking lethal for the visit of Sheffield United, who are battling to keep their top-six hopes alive.

The Blades suffered a cruel defeat during the week against Aston Villa, where Robert Snodgrass’ late screamer settled a contest that Chris Wilder’s side had dominated.

That defeat left Sheffield United in seventh, two points adrift of Fulham, who have taken a grip of the final play-off place in recent weeks.

The Verdict

Sheffield United were unlucky against Villa, and you wonder how much Snodgrass’ late winner will have hurt Wilder’s squad.

Prutton isn’t expecting Wolves to stroll past the Blades, but with confidence back at Molineux, Nuno will be confident his side can take another step towards promotion this weekend.

It should be a good contest, but it is hard to look past Wolves picking up three points.
