David Prutton is expecting Aston Villa to press on with their impressive form in the Sky Bet Championship this weekend when they face Ipswich Town at Villa Park, reports Sky Sports.

Writing in his prediction column for Sky, Prutton has predicted Steve Bruce’s Villa to pick up a 2-1 victory against Ipswich, to extend a magnificent run of form that has catapulted the Villans into automatic promotion contention.

Villa enter this weekend in fourth, just five points behind second placed, Cardiff City.

Bruce has finally found a system and a style that suits his playing squad at Villa Park, which is reflected in the club’s run since August, with Villa losing on just two occasions.

Since the international break Villa have recorded back-to-back victories, picking up an impressive three points on the road against QPR, before backing that up with a routine victory over basement club, Sunderland.

Whilst Villa’s rise has received plenty of coverage this season, Ipswich, as usual, have been going about their business quietly under Mick McCarthy, currently sitting narrowly outside the top-six.

Ipswich will once again be looking to make ground on the play-offs this weekend, and bounce back from Wednesday disappointing late draw against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Verdict

This is an extremely tough fixture to call, as you are never too sure which Ipswich side will turn up in the Championship.

Yes, Bruce’s side are on a magnificent run, but Ipswich are more than capable of halting them.

Villa have plenty of injury troubles and Ipswich will fancy their chance of picking up a positive result.

Score draw for us.
