David Prutton is predicting Birmingham City to end Aston Villa’s winning streak in the Sky Bet Championship this weekend, when the fierce rivals meet in the Second City derby at Villa Park on Sunday.

Writing in his prediction column for Sky Sports, Prutton has predicted Birmingham to hold Villa to a 1-1 draw on Sunday, handing Steve Bruce’s side a blow in their quest for automatic promotion.

Villa have recorded six consecutive Championship victories prior to Sunday’s fixture, putting them amongst the most in-form sides in the country at this current time.

That run has lifted Villa to third in the Championship table ahead of this weekend’s fixtures, with Bruce’s side trailing Derby County by just a single point.

Whilst Villa are searching for a promotion, Birmingham’s aim is to maintain their Championship status, which has been boosted in recent weeks by four victories in their last six league fixtures.

Steve Cotterill’s side have moved to 19th, where they currently sit four points above the relegation zone.

The Verdict

Sunday's Second City derby promises to be a great game, with two in-form sides going up against each other at a sold out Villa Park.

Villa will fancy their chance of rubbing salt in Birmingham’s wound, as another victory for Bruce’s side could potentially see them climb into second this weekend.

However, Birmingham are a dangerous side, and will be heading to Villa Park with no fear after a good run of form.

It is pretty hard to argue with Prutton’s prediction.
