David Prutton is expecting Leeds United’s wait for a first victory in 2018 to be extended this weekend, when the Whites travel to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United.

Writing in his prediction column for Sky Sports, Prutton has predicted Leeds to hold Sheffield United to a 2-2 draw tomorrow, with Leon Clarke scoring the game’s opening goal.

Leeds head to Sheffield under the leadership of Paul Heckingbottom, who is looking ahead to his first game in-charge of the Whites following his appointment as the successor of Thomas Christiansen at Elland Road earlier this week.

Christiansen was sacked with Leeds’ play-off push failing, with the Whites currently sat 10th in the Championship table, without a victory since Boxing Day and seven points adrift of the top-six.

Like Leeds, Sheffield United have play-off hopes of their own, but Chris Wilder’s side have fallen off the pace in the last couple of weeks, with the Blades losing back-to-back fixtures against Aston Villa and Wolves.

Wilder’s side sit ahead of Leeds in eighth, but the Blades remain five points adrift of the top-six, who have opened up a healthy lead over recent weeks.

The Verdict

Leeds will be fired up for this one, and Heckingbottom will be desperate to pick up three points in his first game.

Bramall Lane is never an easy place to go, and whilst Leeds are hurting from their recent losses, so are Wilder’s side.

It is an extremely tough contest to call, but on paper, you’d be expecting a home victory, particularly when you consider the huge changes at Elland Road recently.
