David Prutton is expecting Millwall’s play-off hopes to be dented further tomorrow evening against Middlesbrough.

Writing in his weekly prediction column for Sky Sports, Prutton has predicted Boro to beat Millwall 2-1 at the Riverside Stadium, with Daniel Ayala bagging the game’s first goal.

Just three points separate the two sides ahead of tomorrow’s clash, with Boro sitting in fifth and Millwall in seventh ahead of the final two fixtures of the season.

Millwall’s play-off hopes have been dashed in the last week by a 3-0 defeat to Fulham, whilst Derby County have leapfrogged them into sixth with an impressive victory over Cardiff City.

Neil Harris’ side know that three points this weekend will put them back in a great position ahead of the final fixture, but standing in their way are Boro, who continue to go from strength-to-strength under Tony Pulis.

Pulis’ side have three victories in their last four fixtures, which has left them in a terrific position in the race for the play-offs, with three points this weekend enough to secure play-off football at the Riverside.

The Verdict

Victory for Millwall this weekend will blow the Championship’s top-six race wide open.

Boro will feel like they already have one foot in the play-offs, but a Millwall victory this weekend could make next weekend really interesting.

Prutton has gone for a home victory, but with Millwall coming into the fixture on the back of a poor week, Harris will have his side fired up.

Boro’s wait for play-off confirmation might go on an extra week.
