David Prutton believes Newcastle United will again drop points in the Sky Bet Championship, and is predicting a draw with Wigan Athletic this weekend, reports Sky Sports.

The pundit believes Wigan will hold Rafa Benitez’s league leaders to a 1-1 draw at St James’ Park.

Newcastle have failed to win in their last three league fixtures, and Prutton is expecting their winless streak to continue, he wrote: “This has banana skin written all over it. Newcastle struggled at home to Blackburn, Bristol City and QPR, and you fancy Wigan will go to St James' and be really up for it too.

“They are fighting for their lives down at the bottom and I'm sticking my neck on the line here, I think they'll get a battling draw.”

Benitez’s side are looking to secure promotion back to the Premier League, and currently hold a point advantage over second-placed Brighton and Hove Albion and a seven-point lead over Huddersfield Town who are third.

With eight-fixtures of the season remaining, the Magpies will be confident of achieving automatic promotion, particularly with five of their remaining games at St James’ Park.

Wigan are fighting at the opposite end of the table and desperately need to pick up some points, as they are cut adrift in the relegation zone, trailing Burton Albion by seven-points.
