Pundit makes bold prediction ahead of key clash between Fulham and Aston Villa

David Prutton is expecting Aston Villa to pick up a huge three points in the Sky Bet Championship’s promotion race this weekend, when they travel to Craven Cottage to face an in-form Fulham.

Writing in his prediction column for Sky Sports, Prutton is predicting Villa to walk away from Craven Cottage with a 1-0 victory and a vital three points in the race for automatic promotion in the Championship.

Steve Bruce’s side head to London with injury doubts over Albert Adomah and Jack Grealish, but are in fine form themselves, having picked up seven consecutive victories to haul themselves into serious promotion contention.

Last weekend’s 2-0 victory over Birmingham City in the Second City derby moved Villa into the automatic promotion places, with Bruce’s side a point clear of the chasing pack heading into this weekend’s round of fixtures.

Today sees Bruce’s side faced with another huge test of their promotion credentials, however, with an in-form Fulham hosting them.

Slavisa Jokanovic’s side sit fifth in the Championship table, and although they are seven points adrift of Villa, they are in fine form, having won five of their last six to mount a serious push for promotion.

The Verdict

This is a huge call from Prutton, as a trip to Craven Cottage is about as tough as it comes for Villa at this current time.

Bruce’s side will be full of confidence heading to London, however, Fulham will hand a huge test, which will be difficult to overcome.

You’d expect it to be too close to call later today.
