David Prutton is expecting Middlesbrough’s troubles to continue in the Sky Bet Championship this weekend when they travel to Ashton Gate to face Bristol City, reports Sky Sports.
Writing in his prediction column for Sky, Prutton has predicted Bristol City to strengthen their grip on a place in the top-six, with the Robins handing Boro a 2-1 defeat, with Bobby Reid continuing his fine goalscoring form by scoring the opening goal.
Middlesbrough enter the weekend’s fixtures on the brink of the Championship’s play-off zone, but have suffered two defeats in their last three fixtures, much to Garry Monk’s annoyance.
Boro picked up a recent victory over Birmingham City, but those three points came sandwiched between a 2-1 defeat to Leeds United at Elland Road and a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Derby County at the Riverside Stadium last weekend.
Monk’s side travel to Ashton Gate this weekend, where they will face high-flying Bristol City, who continue to go from strength-to-strength under Lee Johnson.
The Robins currently sit fifth in the Championship table, and will enter tomorrow’s contest full of confidence following a sensational 3-2 victory over Hull City last time out.
Johnson’s side battled back from 2-0 down to claim all three points at the KCOM Stadium.
This is a bold claim from Prutton, as many are expecting a backlash from Middlesbrough this weekend following a humiliating home defeat last weekend.
However, Boro face a huge task against Bristol City this weekend, with Johnson’s side looking like the real deal in the Championship this season.
It will be a tough evening for Middlesbrough, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Monk’s side bounce back and claim a valuable point.
