David Prutton is expecting Aston Villa to put their promotion push firmly back on track tomorrow lunchtime by recording a victory over Norwich City at Carrow Road.

Writing in his prediction column for Sky Sports, Prutton has predicted Villa to record a 2-1 victory over Norwich at Carrow Road, as Steve Bruce’s side look to strengthen their grip on a place in the play-offs.

Bruce’s side currently sit fourth in the Championship table after a difficult run of results, but will head to Norwich in a confident mood having returned to winning ways emphatically on Tuesday evening, recording a 3-0 victory over Reading at Villa Park.

Despite that victory, automatic promotion is still a big ask for Bruce’s squad, with the play-offs looking their most likely route back to the Premier League.

Over the course of the next six fixtures, Villa will be looking to secure their place in the top-six, starting with tomorrow lunchtime’s visit to Norwich.

Norwich’s season is drifting towards a mid-table finish under Daniel Farke, but the Canaries will be hoping to bounce back this weekend after struggling over Easter.

Fulham and Queens Park Rangers handed Farke’s side back-to-back defeats over Easter, leaving them 14th.

The Verdict

It has been a testing couple of weeks for Aston Villa and Steve Bruce, but Tuesday’s clash with Reading indicated that they were back on the right track.

Backing that victory up this weekend will be key, and Bruce will be confident his side can do that, given Norwich’s disappointing run.

It is hard to argue with Prutton predicting an away victory, particularly when you consider Easter’s results.
