Speaking to the Monday Night Club on BBC Radio Five Live, Chris Sutton has insisted everyone wants to see Leeds United return to the Premier League.

Having appeared in the Premier League between 1992 and 2004, few would have predicted Leeds to remain outside the top-flight for over 12 years.

However, financial troubles and constant changing of managers has seen Leeds rot in the lower leagues.

This season seems different, and the Whites are challenging for promotion in the Sky Bet Championship, under the stewardship of Garry Monk.

Sutton, who regularly faced Leeds in the top-flight during his playing career, insisted it would be great to see the Whites back in the Premier League, he said:

“Everybody wants to see Leeds back in the Premier League.”

Leeds are currently fifth, 12-points behind the automatic promotion places, and with just five fixtures of the regular season remaining, the club’s likely route back to the top-flight will be in the Play-Offs.

Monk’s side went a long way to securing their place in the top-six by recording a 3-0 victory over Preston North End at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.

Over the Easter period, the Whites face a difficult trip to Newcastle United, before welcoming Wolverhampton Wanderers to Elland Road.
