Paul Robinson says that the return of Pablo Hernandez for Leeds United will be a 'huge boost' to their hopes of securing promotion.

The creative midfielder has missed the last three fixtures for the Whites, including Monday night's FA Cup third round defeat against Arsenal.

However with attention turning back to the Championship, the 34-year-old is set to hand Marcelo Bielsa a welcome selection boost.

Next up for Leeds is a home clash with Sheffield Wednesday, and speaking to MOT Leeds News, Robinson says that the likely return of Hernandez could be key.

He said: "It will be a huge boost for Leeds to have Hernandez back, although I don’t think they’ve struggled too much without him – they scored five at Birmingham.

“Saying that though, Hernandez is a huge player for Leeds, he’s very important to what they do and he seems to be an automatic pick for the manager.

“To have a player like Hernandez coming back when other teams are losing players through injuries and suspensions, it’s always a huge boost.

“He’s a massive player and this is such an important time of the season for Leeds.”

The verdict

Pablo Hernandez is a massive player for Leeds United.

Despite his advancing years, the 34-year-old is still Marcelo Bielsa's primary creative threat and will no doubt be key to club's hopes of securing promotion.

The hope will be to sign another attacking midfielder to support Hernandez in the demands of the modern game, but any player who arrives will certainly not be replacing him anytime soon.
