Norwich City’s position at the top of the Championship has surprised David Prutton, with the pundit stressing that the Canaries shouldn’t be getting too far ahead of themselves.

Pressure was growing on Daniel Farke back in August, with a 3-0 defeat to Leeds United a real wake-up call for those at Carrow Road.

However, they’ve been on an impressive run of form recently, winning their last five, which has seen them move ahead of the chasing pack in the race for promotion.

Prutton, a Sky pundit and columnist for the Yorkshire Evening Post, has now been discussing Norwich and the Championship’s promotion race.

“We’ve got Norwich City two points clear at the top of it (the table) and that, to me, is something of a mystery," he wrote for the YEP.

“For the best part of a year I’ve been struggling to see exactly what Daniel Farke has been doing there but all of a sudden they’re on a roll, they’ve got chemistry in their team and they’re the club to catch (although given that the lead in the Championship has changed hands 15 times already, they shouldn’t be counting their chickens).”

Following the international break, Norwich are back on the road with two testing away fixtures.

On Saturday, Farke’s side face Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium, before heading to East Yorkshire to take on Hull City, who have been on an improved run of form recently in the Championship.

The Verdict

Norwich are where they are on merit, with Farke’s side putting together an fantastic run of form in recent weeks.

Of course, the Championship’s promotion race is tight, and in a couple of weeks, Norwich could find themselves third or fourth.

The big test for this Canaries side is going to be staying in the hunt over the festive period.
