Watford face a huge challenge as they travel to take on Manchester United in the FA Cup third round.

While promotion remains the priority for the Hornets they'll certainly be hoping that they can pull off an upset as they take on the Premier League title contenders at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have slowly emerged as a genuine contender for the ultimate crown in English football after a fine few weeks in the league - something that they'll be hoping to continue in the FA Cup.

After being knocked out of the Carabao Cup midweek they'll certainly be seeing the competition as an opportunity to add silverware.

But of course Watford will be no walkover.

Xisco Munez's side have gone off the boil slightly in recent weeks, and according to Mark Lawrenson, he firmly expects Solskjaer's side to come out on top against the Hornets as he predicts a 2-1 win for the Premier League side.

Writing for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: "Manchester United are yet to make their first final under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but they will definitely take the FA Cup seriously and should have too much for Watford.

"The United squad is strong enough for Solskjaer to rotate his team, if he wants to, and still progress."

The Verdict

It's hard to bet against Manchester United for this one.

While Watford have the potential to cause real problems for the Premier League side there's no doubting that the Hornets will be prioritising promotion this term.

I expect them to cause problems but ultimately it'll be a major shock if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side don't come out on top.
