Darren Bent feels that Danny Rose would be a great fit at Leeds United after the newly-promoted club were linked with the left-back.

The former England international is contracted to Tottenham, although he has spent the past six months on loan at Newcastle but his long-term future is up in the air.

And, it had been suggested that Rose could return to Elland Road, having come through the ranks with the Whites as a youngster.

With left-back something of a problem position for Marcelo Bielsa, Bent told Football Insider that securing the 30-year-old would be a fine bit of business for Leeds.

"I’d go out and try to get him, if I’m honest. The Leeds fans will love him, he came through the youth system and was brilliant, he wants to go back home and it’s a match made in heaven because I honestly don’t believe that Leeds are going to struggle, I think they’ll be okay.

"For me, that would be a perfect one, he’s said he wants to be closer to home as he gets older in age so that would be perfect – four-year deal, there you go."

The verdict

This does seem as though it's a deal that would suit all parties, although one potential issue could be the wages that Rose may demand.

From a football perspective, he brings top level experience on the pitch and would welcome the chance to move back up north permanently, whilst Leeds need a left-back.

So, you can understand what Bent is saying and it will be interesting to see if anything comes of it in the coming weeks.
