Blackburn Rovers have swooped for free agent Jack Rodwell on a short-term deal.

The club's official website confirmed the signing of Rodwell yesterday, with the midfielder penning a one-year deal until the end of this season.

The 27-year-old has had an up and down career; once tipped for stardom, he was most recently refusing to play at Sunderland, where he was part of a squad which suffered relegation twice in two years.

The former England international once cost £15m in a switch from Everton to Manchester City but he is now looking to resurrect his career at Ewood Park.

Tony Mowbray will be hoping to squeeze the best out of Rodwell, whose career has nosedived drastically in the last few years after joining Sunderland.

After four seasons with the Black Cats, Rodwell cancelled his contract with the club, having only made three first-team appearances for the club last season.

Here are some replies from Blackburn fans after Rodwell was unveiled as their latest addition.
