But a draw against Derby County and a win against Rotherham United over the Easter weekend put enough distance between themselves and the bottom three.

It has, bizarrely, been an impressive season for the Blues and someone who has been crucial to it is centre-back Harlee Dean.

Dean has been an ever-present in the Birmingham side this season, playing in every single match so far and helping Birmingham avoid relegation.

But he will not be involved in the club's final two matches of the season after Garry Monk sent him to have surgery on a hamstring injury that has been troubling him throughout the campaign.
