Leeds United’s last Premier League appearance came in 2004, with the Elland Road club entering their 14th season outside the English top-flight.
The Whites came close to promotion in 2006, but since then have spent three-years in League One and are currently trying to win promotion back to the big time from the Sky Bet Championship.
Leeds, now under the management of Thomas Christiansen, are beginning to look like a club on the rise, with over 30,000 fans packed inside Elland Road on two occasions this week to witness victories over Burton Albion and Birmingham City.
Those victories have seen Leeds rise to the top of the Championship table after seven fixtures, with many now debating whether they can maintain their lead and end the club’s wait for a Premier League return.
Popular broadcaster, talkSPORT, have been debating Leeds’ position, asking Twitter if a club of their size deserves a place in the Premier League, which has brought plenty of reaction on social media.
Here is the best of it…
POLL – They're top of the Skybet Championship so do Leeds "belong" in the Premier league?

They are a big, well supported club & enhance the PL.
BUT no club has a divine right to be there. Thats whybwe like promotion/relegations

As a Liverpool fan, yes they do… Far too big a club to of been out of it for so long.

No team belongs in the Premier League but if you asked football fans to create the 'perfect' PL then Leeds would be included 95% of the time

Leeds ABSOLUTELY belong in the Premier League. Decorated history, strong support, iconic stadium. Leeds are a HUGE club

No club deserves to be in the Premier League…

You have to earn the right but hopefully this is the season Leeds are back ????
— Mike Osmond (@mikeosmond) September 13, 2017
The only teams that belong in PL are ones currently in it. If Leeds are 1 of the 20 next season then they'll belong there with the other 19
— Curt Smith (@CurtSmith77) September 13, 2017
Nobody belongs in the PL you have to earn it. Whoever is promoted belongs in the PL.
— ⬛️Dan Willan⬜️ (@DanWillan84) September 13, 2017
They'll only belong in the premier league if they're there in May.
Promotion is earned on the pitch, not by attendance or ancient success.
