Sheffield Wednesday teenager Omar Damba has been training with Lee Bullen’s first-team squad.

The 19-year-old signed a professional contract with the Yorkshire club in January after a successful trial with the development squad.

The young striker has featured multiple times for Neil Thompson’s under-23 side and appears to have impressed, as he got the nod to train with the senior side.

Damba posted images of himself training with the first team on Instagram, accompanied by the caption “keep working”.

The teenager arrived at the club from football academy RIASA, where ex-Wednesday captain Rob Jones is currently head academy coach.

The Owls have made an excellent start to the season and are currently top of the Championship.

Under caretaker manager Bullen, they beat Reading 3-1 on the opening weekend of the season and comfortably defeated Barnsley 2-0 last Saturday.

They travel to the Den to face Millwall on Saturday and Bullen will be hoping his side can make it nine points from three games.

The Verdict

Damba is clearly a promising young player, given he signed a professional contract in January and has now been training with the first team.

The 19-year-old may find it tough to break into the senior side, however, as forwards Jacob Murphy and Kadeem Harris both joined the club this summer.

With Lucas Joao having moved to Reading in the transfer window, it will be interesting to see if Bullen gives the young forward an opportunity to make an impact for the first team.
