West Bromwich Albion midfielder Gareth Barry has revealed that he is fully-fit ahead of the club's clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

The 38-year-old, who rejoined the Baggies earlier this month after initially being released in the summer due to a serious knee injury, has featured in two games for the reserves over the past week.

Having emerged unscathed following West Brom's 4-0 win over Port Vale on Wednesday, Barry could be in line to make his first appearance of the season this weekend against Wednesday at the Hawthorns.

In Barry's absence, the Baggies have made a fantastic start to life under the guidance of manager Slaven Bilic.

Currently top of the Championship standings, West Brom will be aiming to extend their lead over the chasing pack by securing a positive result on Saturday.

However, with Romaine Sawyers and Jake Livermore both set to miss the clash with the Owls due to suspension, Bilic could be forced to turn to Barry for inspiration.

Speaking to the Express & Star ahead of the game, the midfielder said: "I feel good.

"We had a training game on Saturday and another game on Tuesday.

"I've come through both of those unscathed.

"The knee is feeling good and I'm looking forward to getting back whenever I am needed.

"There's nothing like being out there in front of the fans and the adrenaline rushing through.

"I'll never put myself out of a game.

"If the manager asked me what I was thinking in terms of Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, I've always put myself up for selection so it's then down to the manager and the coaching staff to make a decision on the squad."

The Verdict

When you consider that Barry has played over 700 games in his career, it would not be at all surprising if he is selected to start by Bilic for the Baggies' meeting with Wednesday.

By bringing a wealth of experience to the heart of West Brom's midfield, the former England international could help his side secure victory this weekend.

Providing that the Baggies do indeed seal all three points at the Hawthorns, they could use the momentum gained from this result to push on in the Championship over the coming months.
