Sheffield Wednesday currently find themselves in the nightmare situation of fighting relegation.

Owls supporters couldn't have envisaged the situation they find themselves in at the start of the season.

This was supposed to be a season where they built on the play-off pushes from the previous two seasons with promotion to the Premier League being a realistic aim.

However, they currently find themselves seven points away from the drop.

They need to end a four game losing run and start consistently picking up points or the unthinkable could happen.

Bolton at home is the next game and both sides will see this is a must-win in their attempts to avoid relegation.

Chris Holt used his Sheffield Star column to criticise the lack of trust Luhukay has in players returning from injury.

"Obviously he will know better than all of us the physical shape the players available for selection are in but the number of changes being made to each and every line-up is not conducive to gaining consistent levels of performance from the team."

Holt is right to point out the lack of chemistry in the team, and how Luhukay is at fault for that. He is doing little to inspire confidence with constant changes to the lineup which is usually followed by lacklustre displays.

The Verdict

Failure to beat Bolton would really see confidence drop in him, and his methods, from the supporters. The FA Cup run is the only promising part of his tenure so far and that ended with a poor display in the defeat by Swansea.

He needs to trust that the players coming back from injury can deal with the physical demands of the league because there is a reason why they were in the first-team in the first place. The side is lacking quality and he can't afford to be picky even if it means choosing players who aren't quite fully fit. Ensuring survival has to be the priority first and foremost, then he can focus on preparing for next season.
