The excitement about young Sheffield Wednesday striker George Hirst is beginning to grow once more with the forward back on people's minds this week.

The striker has been touted as one of the best young players in this country for his age and many Owls fans are excited to see him come through.

This season, though, a contract signing dispute has stopped him from playing or progressing for the younger Owls sides - until now that is.

Indeed, after Jos Luhukay said that Hirst would begin moving up to the U23s in his press conference yesterday, the forward is now featuring for them today - as per Dom Howson:

Certainly, this is exciting news for the Owls as they look to see Hirst move into their first team sooner rather than later.

This is evidently the next step on the ladder and it'd be no surprise to see him score in the clash this afternoon either.

The Verdict

The Owls have had a tough season this year but at least this situation is looking a bit more positive.

Wednesday are still yet to see Hirst sign a new contract but at least it appears as though he is back in contention to feature for games and in the mind of those at the club.

Let's see how he adapts to the new age group.
