With Gary Bowyer being relieved of his duties at the start of the week, Stuart McCall has been appointed the new manager of Bradford City, looking to recapture some form to get back into the promotion picture.
The Bantams have been looking for promotion straight back to the third tier of English football after their relegation to League Two last season and looked a solid shout to do so earlier in the season when results were going their way.
However, they are currently on a very frustrating winless run that was extended to seven games when they fell to a disappointing 3-0 defeat away to bottom-half Oldham Athletic. Following the game, the Bantams parted company with manager Gary Bowyer, who was only appointed in April of 2019.
After parting ways with the former Blackburn boss, Stuart McCall was named his successor on Tuesday morning, and it is now the new boss’ third stint at the club, after two previous spells at the Utilita Energy Stadium in both 2007-2010 and 2016-2018.
With the appointment building a lot of positivity at the club, especially with the fans, there will be a host of players eager to make the right impression early on and make a claim for starting for the rest of the season.
The question was put to Bradford City fans in a Facebook group to see who they thought would do very well under the new regime…
Which Bradford player can you see benefitting most from Stuart McCall’s appointment?
Gary Smith “(Shay) McCartan, I hope.”
Alan Marshall “(Jake) Reeves or (Harry) Pritchard, also maybe (Jordan) Gibson.”
Steve Rider “Reeves, he’s got a good engine, McCall will point him in the right direction… forward.”
How much do you know about the Bantams’ new signings?
Phil Hogan “All of them.”
Glen Kirk “Zeli Ismail.”
Alisdair McGregor “Would have been Doyle but we let him go.”
Anthony Ratcliffe “Dylan Mottley-Henry, or Ismail.”
Lee Pasquariello “Ismail, McCartan or Reeves.”
John Alexander Brammer “If he can get Anthony O’Connor to lighten up and smile a bit more then he can do anything in my eyes.”
