Baba Rahman took to Twitter last night to thank Reading supporters for the support they have given him since arriving at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

The 27-year-old Ghanaian international arrived in Berkshire at the end of August from Chelsea in a season-long loan deal, coming in as a much-needed replacement for Omar Richards, who left the club for former Champions League winners Bayern Munich earlier in the summer.

Up until his arrival, they had no senior left-back options available despite having 19-year-old Ethan Bristow as an option to step in, and that showed on the pitch with the Royals losing four of their opening five Championship games of the season before the first international break.

Rahman made his debut straight after that interval against Queens Park Rangers, providing balance in the second-tier side's defence and overseeing a huge change in their fortunes over the past month.

They climbed up to seventh after Saturday afternoon's victory against Barnsley, keeping a clean sheet despite spells of pressure from the Tykes and providing a threat going down the left-hand side with Ovie Ejaria.

After struggling to break through at Chelsea, this loan has been a successful one for the 27-year-old thus far and is likely to continue to be a key player throughout the campaign as one of the first names on the teamsheet.

Taking to Twitter to thank Reading fans for the support he has received in his opening games for the club, he said last night: "Any Royal still awake? Just wanted to say you guys are special and you give me so much love and support. I appreciate it all."
